Pooka stayed over at her cousin's last night and I was home alone. She just called me this morning and I was excited!
"Good morning! Are you calling because you miss me???"
"NO." Adamantly. "I'm just calling to check up on you."
"Oh." I paused, disappointed. Then shrugged it off and smiled. "Well, I'm ok, I got up early and already did my yoga! You, what are you doing?"
"Nothing. Okay, Ma. Bye. I love you!"

My kids and I had dinner tonight with my mom and my extended family for Uncle Frank's birthday. It's not a big deal even though there were more than a dozen of us. Just the usual, dinner at Hon Lin in San Bruno, one of my aunt's favorite places to eat. Or is it my cousin Jason's? I'm not sure now. All I know is that I've been going there with them since I moved out here in 1994.
But every time we go, I have a really good time. Just being around
family, laughing, making fun, being made fun of, hugs, squeezes, while
eating away. It's just good stuff, you know?
Ma! Why did you mess up your hair again???
I didn't!
Yes, you did. It's messy again.
I didn't even touch it! All I've done is go to the bathroom and back to my desk, okay? Geez, Pooka. Chill out.
(Pooka was thoroughly brushing my long hair as I was working at my desk earlier. She said my hair was " very messy")
