(L-R: Meggie-Poo, Bubba, Uncle Frank, Auntie Lorna, Pooka, Jojo)
My kids and I had dinner tonight with my mom and my extended family for Uncle Frank's birthday. It's not a big deal even though there were more than a dozen of us. Just the usual, dinner at Hon Lin in San Bruno, one of my aunt's favorite places to eat. Or is it my cousin Jason's? I'm not sure now. All I know is that I've been going there with them since I moved out here in 1994.
But every time we go, I have a really good time. Just being around
family, laughing, making fun, being made fun of, hugs, squeezes, while
eating away. It's just good stuff, you know?
Ma! Why did you mess up your hair again???
I didn't!
Yes, you did. It's messy again.
I didn't even touch it! All I've done is go to the bathroom and back to my desk, okay? Geez, Pooka. Chill out.
(Pooka was thoroughly brushing my long hair as I was working at my desk earlier. She said my hair was " very messy")
Stayed up reading past midnight again last night. Finally finished "Breaking Dawn," the last of the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Whew. I got so addicted to these books as soon as I finished watching the movie back in March. I had the first book on my Kindle for months already, out of curiosity, but never got around to reading it. Same thing for the movie, I rented out of curiosity. And for Megan. I never expected to fall for it so much.
I watched the rented movie 4 times in a week and a half. I finished the first 3 books in the same span right after. I held off reading the last one because I needed to get my act together with my class writing assignment and sleep, besides for the general cleanliness of my household like the kitchen sink and the laundry basket.
I gave in to the last book a few days ago, as a personal reward for being a "good girl." I've completed my essays on time, I haven't been out stupid drinking in weeks, and I've been doing a lot of writing and reading for myself. Oh, and I've laid the death sticks down. Haven't had a single cigarette in over 2 weeks. I tried a few puffs off a friend earlier this week but I was indifferent to it. Kinda like a boy you were once so crazy over and now you're wondering what the big deal was all about. Yup. Like that.
